Ingredients
  

  • 8 ounces spaghetti or any pasta shape you have
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 3 cloves garlic minced (or 1 teaspoon garlic powder)
  • 1 can diced tomatoes 14.5 oz can
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried basil or Italian seasoning
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes optional
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Grated Parmesan cheese optional, for serving

Method
 

  1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil and cook the pasta according to the package directions until al dente.
  2. While the pasta cooks, heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the garlic and cook for about 30 seconds, until fragrant.
  3. Pour in the diced tomatoes, basil, red pepper flakes, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 5 to 7 minutes, stirring occasionally, while the pasta finishes cooking.
  4. Drain the pasta and toss it directly into the skillet with the sauce. Top with Parmesan cheese if desired and serve immediately.
